I dont feel PalmOne's phones are user friendly. I have this AnexTEK SP230, it runs on a Windows OS, therefore it feels very user friendly. And you should check out its graphic quality superb. Actually the current Treo 600 model launched by Palmone in India is NOT YET obsolete. Thats because untill Feb/March 2005 this will be the only GSM Smartphone offered by Palmone anywhere in the world including the US. The 'more advanced' Treo 650 (currently available in the US) is actually a CDMA model. The GSM Treo 650 would not be available worldwide before Feb/March 2005. I only wonder why it took a launch of Blackberry in India for Palmone India to get working and bring out its flagship model here. I find it ridiculous that Palmone launched the Treo 600 in India a WHOLE ONE YEAR after it the worldwide launch??? If you think India was not ready for the smartphones, you must be crazy! The Sony Ericsson P800/P900 series has been selling in India since 2002 and Nokia communicator since God knows when. All Nokia and SE models in India are launched along with their worlwide launches. Was Palmone India waiting for another competitor like Blackberry to take the lead in the Qwerty Smartphone market in this country? I am afraid this is very unbecoming of a company like Palmone. Maybe we need to treat India with a little more dignity. We have more afficionados of smartphones in this country than Palmone seems to think. And why isnt the Palmone India site still updated to reflect the availability of Treo 600 ???

I am not sure if we can compare US prices with Indian. In US the phone sells for 349 USD (15,300 INR) but that is only if it is locked into a particular carrier such as ATT. The price for the Unlocked GSM in the US or anywhere else would be very close to what PalmOne has officially pegged the t600 at in India. |
