Patni Computer Systems, a global IT services provider, today announced the appointment of Robert Rando as the company's new vice president of sales in the product engineering services (PES) practice.
Rando brings with him more than 25 years of sales experience, primarily in the storage industry. Previously, he held senior management/vice president of sales positions with Hewlett-Packard, Hitachi Data Systems, EMC, Data General/Clariion, 3ParData, and, most recently, OpenText Corp.
"Bob's experience, impressive track record and knowledge of the storage industry, makes him an ideal choice to drive our sales efforts," said Piyush Jain, senior vice president of sales, product engineering services for Patni. "Under his direction, we will continue to build our business by broadening the scope of current engagements and leveraging new growth opportunities which will further enhance our leadership position."
Rando has worked in direct and channel sales models, including services. At Hewlett-Packard, he was responsible for the North American storage sales team which helped lead the company to its first ever achievement of $1B in total worldwide enterprise storage systems sales, the company said.
At Data General, Rando was responsible for building and leading the successful Clariion direct sales force, leading to EMC's acquisition of Data General. Rando also built and led the early sales efforts at 3PARdata Corp.
Rando will operate out of Patni's North American headquarters in Cambridge, Mass., and will lead Patni's business development efforts for high technology clients in the storage, computing and networking sub-verticals.
