Philips Clears Major Incentive Dues

By Archana Venkatraman
Mumbai, Aug 11, 2006

Philips India has finally settled 60-80 percent of the incentives due to its Star channel partners after several months of uncertainty.

Philips also apparently assured the channel partners of transparent and channel-friendly policy and lenient targets. When ChannelTimes first carried the Philips incentives story, the market figures added up to Rs 80 lakh to Rs 1 crore and these dues are reimbursed either through cash settlement or Philips products.

Mukesh Mehta of Nutrend Computers, a Mumbai Star-partner, said, Philips cleared about 60-70 percent of my dues in July. It has been a satisfactory response and Ankan Biswas, Tushar Das and the team cleared the incentives as was feasible to Philips.

He added, "TAIT was involved in the process, but Philips voluntarily cleared it by coordinating with us Star partners. It even changed its policy and assured us that we can pick up goods as per our needs and there would be no rigorous sales target.

Mahesh Tambat, proprietor, Kasturi Infomatique, and the only Philips Star partner in Nashik, said, "My six months' incentive dues got settled two weeks back. Philips has now assured me about channel-friendly policy and transparent incentive settlements for the channels.

Added Brijen Shah, director, Dikibi Technology, Pune, "In two-three meetings, Philips settled the incentives that was due to me. It was fair in its dealings as it honored whatever dues were in the paper." Another Pune Star partner, Chandresh Vithalani of Solutions India, said, "My last meeting was on August 2 and Tushar Das has verbally committed to clear my dues by next week itself."

One of the Star partners, on condition of anonymity, said, "Philips settled my account two weeks back and has even candidly expressed that it will not pressurize the partners with sales figures and that the distributor and channel concern is important for Philips."

Bharat Gosar of Modera Computers, Mumbai, is yet to get his dues, but said Philips has assured him that it would be done and is expecting the settlement before the end of August.

TAIT, which has been involved in this issue, said it would take action if the partners were not contented with the returns, while PCAIT said there is hardly any Philips channel partner in Delhi and that the association has not come across any incentives issue from the channels there.

When contacted, Philips refrained from commenting on the incentives or revived policy issues.
How do you look at the Philips incentives issue?

This is all wrong statement publish by you, till date in chandigarh we M/s. Jetage Computer Traders, sco-12, sector-17/E, Chandigarh mobile no. 09814958290. After so many request to the philips india and their respective distributor in M/s. Compuage Infocom Ltd.,they are not clearing our outstanding backend in which they promised to give one person Australia Tour and two Bankok tour. Now, in response when the company is not fullfill their committment, we stop selling Philips Monitor in our territory. No, dealer is appointed and in this region there is no single product available. We make lots of our effort in establishing this product in chandigarh region, but due to their poor policy they lost total market share. Now, they are not able to sell even a single product in our market.

Hey Guys, would like to know from all those critics of Mr. Maheshwari, what do they have say now, since they were very confident of channels not getting thier due incentives. I hope everyone knows, that any incentive is cleared only if the provisions are made. And surely before leaving he would have ensured provisons are made.People in the company can only delay it. But any Good System driven company will ensure its partners well being. Well done Mr. Maheshwary, since when I spoke to you, you were confident on Company's system and gave that confidence to me atleast, that my money would be cleared.

That uis good news that philips has started clearing the dues. What about companies like samsung where they have promised the printers & schemes like to the end user? What are the channel partners to get from it after their relations with their end users have come in a mess for samsung not doing their duty? Channel Times should speak on those issues too?
