Philips India will open exclusive IT service centers across the country by the beginning of next year. In addition, the vendor will also reorient its existing service outlets to make it more IT savvy.
Presently, Philips has 103 service outlets, which provide service support for its consumer electronics and IT hardware products. But after its tie-up with Priya and Compuage, which is aimed at deeper channel penetration, Philips will be reorienting these service outlets. As a result, specific IT service support will also be available at all these outlets.

"There is mainly a perception problem with the present service outlets. The servicing of Philips consumer electronics products and IT products are different. With IT products the servicing has to be quick and responsive which is not the same with consumer electronics. So presently our focus will be to reorient existing service centers to handle both the different segments," said Sanjay Maheshwari, manager, Distribution, Philips India.

Maheshwari also claimed, "Philips products are high quality products. Therefore, they have a failure rate of only .0 per cent. The amount of complaints made about Philips monitors is less compared to those made against the competition."

Service support at the centers scheduled to be opened next year will be provided directly by the vendor and not by distributors.

The vendor also plans to start exclusive channel programmes and schemes along with Compuage and Priya. These programmes will include star partners, who distribute Philips products in the country.
