Plustek Set to Roll Out a Host of Green Scanners

By ChannelTimes Staff
Mumbai, Feb 21, 2008

Taiwan based digital image solutions sompany Plustek has lined up a host of environmental-friendly solutions in India.

Dr. Karen Ku, vice president of Plustek, said, "Our objective is to make the earth paper-less and support Green Earth concept running worldwide. The solutions that Plustek is bringing to India include some of the light-weight and affordable scanners for each format of documentations so that people fall into the habit of creating and using digital documents, which are easy to store and easy to transport.".

The scanner options that the company is launching in 2008 includes -

Plustek SmartOffice PL2546: A duplex ADF and Flatbed scanner designed for government departments, institutions, enterprises, organizations and distributed branch offices. It is easy to handle a lot of documents scanning and capture any size of documents for digital filing and management.

Plustek OpticBook 4600: A book scanner with book stand and 2.0 sec. scan speed. No paper required - as users can save the scanned file onto the hard drive or any portable storage media.

Book Reader: Helps visually-impaired students to read the books. It combines a high level of accuracy Optical Character Recognition software and high quality Text to Speech' software.

Plustek SmartOffice PS286: A compact, high-speed desktop scanning solution that converts your paper into digital files. It offers high-speed scanning at rates up to 25 ppm in simplex or duplex mode. It accepts documents from business card to legal size and is specially designed to feed plastic cards such as embossed insurance ID cards and driver licenses.

"India is a growing market for digital documents largely because of the security and compliance reasons. As per the compliance, the enterprises cannot destroy the documents before seven years. This incurs crores of rupees for storing the physical documents. Now with affordable solutions from Plustek, the enterprises can easily turn the paper documents into digital documents and store in cheaper devices," Karen Ku said.

"Students who are averse to reading books will have attractive options to scan the documents and read in their favorite mobile devices. By and large, our solutions will be great help to the libraries and academies," she added.

But it is told that Plustek's Country Manager Mr.Ankur Sarkar has already resigned & would be joining some other company soon. So India operation will be run without the Country Manager??? Seems litle confusing........Nothing about the distributors written in this write up, what about the distributors?? Will there be a bunch of new Distributors????
