The acute power cut in various parts of the state has left Punjab channel partners in real trouble. The eight hours of shut down has literally crippled the business of partners, who are already witnessing increase in services issue. This has forced partners to spend exponentially in manpower and generators.
Explaining more on this, Jalandhar-based Rajiv Khanna, Proprietor, Computer Touch, said, "Recently, the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) has imposed a power cut for at least eight hours in the urban areas. Therefore, we have to close shops/offices before 8PM, and we hardly get two hours for working. Our association, along with other IT and non-IT associations, has already sent a letter to District Commissioner, and we are likely to go for dharna against this power issue."
Adding more to it, Ludhiana-based, Ankur Gupta, Director, Royal Infovison, said, "Due to this power crisis, our service calls have been pending for several weeks. We are completely dependent on generators and invertors for our business, and our daily expenses on them have been growing many folds."
This situation is forcing partners to either cancel or postpone their activities. "We were forced to cancel our members' outing which was scheduled this month. We do not see any improvement in these conditions; however, we are fighting against the local power authority on reducing the office hrs."
On the positive side, the sales of UPS, invertors and generators have picked up. Largely, the demand is coming from SOHO, home and SMB segments.
