Quantum Charts Innovative Roadmap for Channels
By
Nirendra Dev
Bangalore, Sep 10, 2007
Eyeing higher growth, the storage vendor - Quantum - is looking for qualitative channel expansion through certain innovative roadmaps guarantying suitable incentives and is also in the process of revamping its workforce, said Sunny John, country manager of Quantum.
"We're revamping our man power and targeting enhanced channel reach, but storage being a specialized area we're looking for qualitative expansions," John told ChannelTimes in an interview.
"We plan to grow the reseller partners selectively as we need committed partners," he said. In this context, he mentioned about the appointment of Dubai-based StorIT - a storage specialist - as a value-added distributor in India. "This will benefit customers with backup, recovery, and archive solutions expertise," he said. According to him the tie-up will strengthen Quantum's channel strategy and help leverage the combined storage expertise of both the companies.
According to him, the channel expansion program with StorIT allows the latter to rope in partners according to its choice. "Hence, VARs like Cubix in Pune, Locuz in Hyderabad, and Pan Audio Company in Sri Lanka have come in our channel network, but we're not involved directly," he said adding this obviously makes a 'lot of business sense'.
Similarly, he said as regard to StorNext data management software, traditional IT partners aren't the right partners. Therefore it has roped in Ideal Broadcasting India as the value-added reseller.
"Ideal Broadcasting is a leading system integrator, which provides consultancy, system design, project management and installation services to terrestrial, and cable and satellite broadcasters," he said adding the partnership has helped Quantum making inroads in growing verticals like - oil and petroleum, satellite, space applications, various research organizations like keeping mammoth data for Tsunami, etc. Besides these, discussions are on to have 2 more large partners for StorNext.
On incentives for partners, he said one of the most popular benefits of the Quantum Alliance channel program is Sales Rewards. "Quantum rewards our members with cash each time they sell one of our products. This isn't a temporary promotion, but rather a multi-year benefit to help increase the profitability of our channel partners," he said. Under the program the beneficiary partner gets a Quantum Card - like debit card - where amount up to US $ 100 are granted. This card is issued depending on the amount of business the resellers make. "Last year only we had 50 claimants.
The program has been structured to assist in selling more products and services. It features 3 member levels - distributor, registered VAR and premier VAR. Membership to a specific level is based upon a reseller meeting certain requirements including sales volumes and network storage competencies."
