Quantum, Ideal Team Up to Foray Into Media
By
Sandhya Malhotra
Delhi, Jun 20, 2007
Quantum Corp has appointed Ideal Systems as its non-exclusive distributor for StorNext software, which is expected to be available in the Indian market soon, specially for the media market.
Quantum acquired the StorNext storage management software from Advanced Digital Information Corp, which it took over in 2006.
Elaborating on the new tieup, Sunny John, country manager, Quantum India, said, "The agreement will strengthen Quantum s channel strategy in the region and leverage the combined expertise of both the companies to deliver data management solutions. This strategic relationship with Ideal will benefit customers in data-intensive industries as well as provide quality consultative support and service. With locations throughout the country, Ideal India will market; sell and support Quantum s StorNext solutions."
According to Mala Mathur, executive director, Ideal India, "In India we provide consultancy, system design, project management and installation services to terrestrial cable, satellite broadcasters as well as post-production facilities. With Quantum backup, recovery, software and archive solutions, we would broaden our existing customer base and product offerings while growing our business portfolio."
Quantum also plans to induct new partners specializing in niche markets for its solutions. Steve Rovarino, APAC manager, software sales, said, "We are looking for more specialized partners and SIs for oil & gas, government and scientific markets. Along with SIs, we also have strategic alliance with embedded partners/OEMs like HP, EMC, Apple Computers and Dell, and we would further increase our OEM business for our software solutions."
However, the company's traditional channels base for hardware solutions will remain the same, John said, adding, "we would increase the headcount to 15". The company will soon be appointing pre- and post-sales officials and engineers for StorNext software solutions, John informed.
