Quantum has launched the new Scalar 50, an entry-level tape library, which helps in simplifying the backup process, integrates with disk, and scales easily. The Scalar 50 provides fast, easy, and reliable data protection for small to medium-sized storage environments.
According to Todd Farley, product-marketing manager for Quantum, "The Scalar 50 tape library provides an easy-to-use, reliable, and scalable solution that simplifies the backup process so customers can focus their attention on driving their business, without worrying about backups."
The Scalar 50 library supports full-height or half-height tape drive formats and operates in direct-attach and SAN environments. It also offers advanced library functionality such as partitioning, multiple drive types, FC, iSCSI, SAS, and SCSI interfaces.
Specifically designed for seamless integration with disk systems, Scalar 50 supports disk-to-disk-to-tape data protection strategies, and leverages Quantum's StorageCare Vision data management and reporting solution.
The Scalar 50 has an interface to facilitate configuration, operation, and service and also includes an integrated set-up wizard that enables users to partition the library and schedule backups.
Starting with a MSRP of US $ 8,000, the Scalar 50-tape library is available through Quantum and its network of channel and distribution partners.
