RCTA, Vendors Concerned Over Cross Border Material

By Kapil Mudholkar
Mumbai, Jul 03, 2009 1746 hrs IST

In a recently-held vendor-disty meet, the Rajasthan Computer Traders Association (RCTA) and vendors have expressed concern over the issue of cross border material. Mostly, the vendors, such as IBM, HP and Wipro, have sought immediate solution to stop local channel partners from procuring products from places like Delhi.

The vendors have now demanded active participation of the RCTA to resolve this issue as soon as possible. The vendors concluded that such activities are impairing the business, and that steps have to be taken on a war footing to encourage local trade.

Explaining the situation, Deepak Sharda, Secretary, RCTA, said, "The issue is really a serious one, and we have asked the concerned vendors to share the names of channel partners indulge in such practice. This will allow us to take necessary steps."

Delhi and Uttranchal are believed to be the major procurement hubs because of special pricing and schemes largely targeted toward the metro cities.

What do you think of this situation?

This is the hypothetical situation where vendor is making noise about cross border infiltration in the era of GST when anybody will buy material from anywhere in the country, legally. The vendor who is asking for legitimate business practices is making noise about it,while what they are doing is unpardonable using local channel for granted with disparity in prices at different locations.

Vendors and their so called authorised channel have been seen making noise and crying and howling so far when they used to complain that the same ( please see...not fake ) product is coming from overseas - outside India ..at competitive ( read - LOWER ) prices... Until now crying against international border competitveness ... Now strange to see that they are crying against within country - state borders ... NEXT WHAT ??? U will cry against neighbourhood... intra city borders... :) haha ... Rather than make noise... why dont u sell at best prices so that one doesnt need to bring from other sources...:) what an irony... a classic example of people crying that why the customer is not buying from them at expensive price ..

Cross Border Trade is a very old practise and i don't think can be solved. No local body by any mean can stop it. E.G( i get an x product for rs.100 in a city and Rs.90 in b city then i will buy it from B city) No one can force somebody to buy expensive when a cheaper alternative is available abd viable. It is for the vendor to make the M.O.P of the product such that the price does not remain lucrative for a dealer to buy from outside state.
