RSA, The Security Division of EMC Corporation, and Valyd Software., a privately-owned Indian IT product company, announced that RSA has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Valyd for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition will help RSA to significantly expand its enterprise data protection (EDP) strategy. The company plans to continue to support the development of this technology from Hyderabad, where Valyd s R&D operations and more than 50 specialist security software engineers are located. The acquisition is expected to be completed before the end of the first quarter of 2007 and is not expected to have a material impact on the results of EMC's operations for 2007.
Valyd Software was formed in 1998 to create and deliver software solutions that secure enterprise data.

With information-centric security solutions from RSA, our customers can confidently protect their private consumer, employee and partner data wherever it lives, and throughout the information infrastructure."
Commenting on the acquisition, Manoj Chugh, president, EMC India & Saarc region, said, "This acquisition is a significant milestone for innovation in Indian IT A technology product acquisition that addresses information-centric security showcases the quality of innovation in India that is available to global technology majors. The Indian IT industry today has moved beyond support and services, to product development in areas that address customers immediate priorities, and we are proud to acquire technology innovated in India."
