Raritan Achieves EAL4+ For CompuSwitch-PENT
By

Mumbai, Oct 3, 2006
Raritan, the provider of solutions to simplify IT operations, today announced that its CompuSwitch-PENT is the first KVM switch to be evaluated at the Common Criteria for Security Evaluation Assurance Level (EAL) 4+, the highest test level for a KVM product to date of the internationally recognized security standard for network products.
Many government agencies, such as the US Department of Defense and security-sensitive industries require that products purchased be Common Criteria validated, to ensure that the products are certified for sensitive as well as classified use. It also provides an independent review and analysis of a product's security against a defined set of requirements and is adopted by the IEEE and recognized by the European Union. It is an ISO (15408) standard and ACSI (33) standard.
"The EAL4+ certification is even more stringent than the EAL4 certification in that additional areas are examined to provide greater assurance to the purchaser. Such a rigorous validation effort will give Raritan's customers an extremely high level of security assurance," said Matthew Appler, CEO, Corsec Security, an independent validation consulting company that is managing the certification process for Raritan.
Sanjay Motwani, country manager-India, Raritan, said, "Our decision to achieve Common Criteria EAL4+ validation is part of our ongoing commitment to deliver solutions of the highest technical standards to our government customers for managing critical IT infrastructure networks and data centers, and to give our resellers every possible competitive advantage." Motwani added that with this, the company hoped to build on considerable success in government markets.
Popular among government customers worldwide, the CompuSwitch-PENT KVM switch provides a single-user access to two, four or eight servers from a single KVM console and can be sold to the government sector because it has been placed on the Common Criteria In-evaluation list.
