What is wrong in it if someone is supplying even an refurbished system for 1 year warranty under 7k. This is much better than the so called sub10k pcs sold by the brand venders which actually lands to the end user just double the price, post tax & "onsite warranty" cost. Still there are people in india who cannot afford hefty prices for a computer. This one is well within reach of a common user, comes complete with modem, lan card works great on dialup and broadband internet and is compact for places where space is a constraint. I have sold a couple of systems varying from business establishment to students and is working great. So whats the harm in it.... |

I heard a lot about this Intel dot station till I purchased one myself.
Firstly its a brand new machine. Secondly the Config is Cel 300 with 4.3GB HDD & 64 MB RAM. for Rs. 3495/- without Bill & warranty.I bought P-III cpu 800 for another Rs.200/-, 40GB HDD for Rs. 1000/- and 256 MB RAM for Rs.500/-, External casing & CD drive for Rs. 800/- So I got this branded P-III machine for Rs. 6000/- Thats because I got the CPU+HDD+RAM+ CD drive & Casing from Nehru Place(New Delhi) all by myself. But then the catch is that you got to add a 102K resistance on the motherboard so that it accepts P-III 800. And if you ask the vendor from whom you bought the machine for a upgrade you'll be asked to pay Rs. 1600/- for 256 MB SD RAM, Rs. 1100/- for P-III 800 CPU and RS.1700/- for 40GB HDD.And still no OS
Now lets take look on the other side of picture. There are good branded P-IV 1.5 to 1.8 GHz, CD drive, 40 GB HDD (buy Brand new 80GB for 1690/- with 5 years onsite warranty) and with 256 MB- just cost Rs. 4500/- add Rs. 1500/-(may be less) for 17" c/monitor. I've been myself using "NEC Powermate", a sleek & stylish P-IV machine for the past 8 mths without having any trouble. It has AGP 32MB video card & LAN card. The 19" monitor I am using is again NEC - MultiSync FE 950+ bought for Rs. 2200/-. So Rs. 4500/- + Rs. 2200/- = Rs.6700/- for P4 branded system.Now tell me a better option - buying custommade(non repairable) P-III or buying P-IV with 19" pure flat monitor ,at same price. |

The price is good. Old and refurbished computers are not necessarily bad. It is good to recycle them and reuse them than to dump them in the ocean. Not all electronics go sour with age. Good Idea! We need low cost computers (below Rs.2000 - actually) for our rural schools in large numbers. Intel had chickened out of such a plan last year. Good work refurbishers! |

I disagree completely with the statement that the product has been used for 4 to 5 years and is refurbished model.
I have opened the product and inspected the same too and there is no trace of being used or even sparingly used or even refurbished. After my experince of last 6 to 8 years , I can easily come to know if the product has been used.

I can confirm the dot station you are selling now has never been used. I am from Eastern Europe used to work for distribution company and remember guys coming to us trying to sell us dot station, from Spain. I see no problem if a PC is sold for about 7 K. works well and is able to perform what the 20K Plus PC would. Certainly its value for money and better utilization of scarce resources. We must incourage such indeginous efforts to bridge the digital divide. Who is complaining? It seems to be more of a concern for their profits rather than the smart Customer buying such machines.
Lets have more channels selling such products and empower people who can not afford a 20K plus machine.

"Zeebroniks" in Chennai is also imports refurbished Leadtek graphics cards from some scrap dealers , packs them as new , and sells them with hefty margins . They claim to be authorised distributors of Leadtek which they are not. Really feel sorry to write this, but I guess Subhendu Sen owner of Indnet didn't leave us with any option. So thought of atleast helping other and stopping them from getting cheated like he did to us IF you want any details feel free to mail me.
Review.
1. Left a dotnet station at my residence which gets hot and hangs in every 30 mins from day one he delivered it.
2. Clearly says has Virus in it - due to when started it doesn't even shutdown but hangs.
3. Constant reminders, mail, call(which btw now he hangs up) - No response.
I am not asking for customer service after year, but atleast have courtesy of leaving good fresh piece with the amount you take from customer.
4. Paid full amount with trust upfront and now he is neglecting.
What do you feel, anyone should do. My parents have been trying to reach him repeatedly. I am really sorry to put them in such mess. I am located in US so feel helpless.
Please think twice before you buy from him.

Hi...happened to see this reply of Mr. Raj accidentally. We had intimated his neighbor (as his mother was not able to) to write down our service station address and bring it to there for replacement as it was closer to Mr. Raj's place in Mumbai. After approx a month or so, they brought in the computer and it got replaced instantly. Hope Mr. Raj, if ever sees this post, will revert in affirmation. |

I don't know what is the parameters and standards the author had used when he say a product is obsolate. In the Hardware technology is advancing day by day, but in Software it is not that easy to catch with this rapid developments. In this regard we have to use our common sense to recognise the cheats. I am using these so call ed scrap Dot station for the past 7 months(25 nos) in my lab. In my experience it is best suite for a basic user with good performance while running win XP and Office Xp on 128 MB RAM configurations. Incresing the RAM can further improve the performance of the software which are not using the processor optimization. I am an IT profession for the past 15 years dealing in both Hardware and Software. In my opinion still the celeron and P3 are enough for a basic home user. If a products suites the customer in performance wise and price wise then we have to see only about the after sales service provided. This product comes with warranty of services.
We have to study from the history especially of Intel, what was the reason to change the Main-board architecture when they started the Pentium Series(Only to protect their Brand and to bind the user to their brand. It is pure busines not a charity. |
