Samsung Strengthens its IT Portfolio

By ChannelTimes Staff
Mumbai, Jul 17, 2008 1405 hrs IST

Samsung India has come up with new market initiatives to strengthen its IT peripherals business in the country. The company has launched 3 new advanced LCD monitor series and announced its foray into 2 new product verticals - projectors and digital photo frames.

As per the company communique, these new LCD monitor series -- T Monitor, Myst Plus and Lime -- offer consumers total display solutions for their home and office requirements. Besides, the company eyes expansion of its IT channel this year, including setting up dedicated IT brand Shops.

Speaking on the occasion, Y J Lee, VP (IT Business), Samsung India, said, "In keeping with the global market trends, the Indian display market too is witnessing a dramatic shift in favor of LCD monitors. Samsung, as the global leader in LCD monitors, is fuelling this transition in India by continuously launching LCD monitors that lead in terms of their design, performance and innovative features."

The T Monitor features dual injection technology, which eliminates the need for glue or screws to construct the monitor bezel. It comes with a 20000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 2 ms response time and 16.7 million color panel. As per the company claims, it uses only 0.3W of power in power off mode and 34~45 W power in operation-mode. The series is available in 19-inch, 20-inch and 22-inch wide display format and is priced in the range between Rs 12,500 and Rs 15,500.

The other series, Lime, offers 8000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and a response time of 5ms. It has V2oIP feature optimized for chatting, video conferencing with 3MP webcam, speaker and MIC. It also sports in-built 3MP web camera and digital multi connectivity. The series is available in 19-inch, 20-inch and 22-inch wide formats and is priced in the range between Rs 14,000 and Rs 17,000.

The Myst Plus offers a contrast ratio of 20000:1 and a response time of 5ms. It is available in 17-inch and 22-inch wide display format. While the 17-inch Myst Plus is priced at Rs 9,575, the 22-inch Myst Plus is priced at Rs 14,000.

Besides, Samsung has also forayed into the digital projector and digital photo frame market with the launch of its full HD 1080p projector A800 and its 8-inch digital photo frame SPF-83H.

The A800 is powered with DLP 1080p film technology with 95% aperture ratio. It offers a response time of 16 ms along with a contrast ratio of 10,000:1. The projector is priced at Rs 350,000.

Samsung's new digital photo frame, SPF-83H, comes with an internal memory of 128 Mbyte and simple functionality. The company plans to strengthen its range by adding new wireless network photo frame in another couple of months. The SPF-83H is priced at Rs 9,900.
