Sharp Plans to Enhance Its Color MFD Market Share
By
Sharmee Roy
New Delhi, Aug 9, 2006
In order to get aggressive in the color MFDs arena, Sharp Business Sytems is launching its new color MFD in the third week of August as well as consolidating its channel business.
Speaking about its plans, Anil Sodhani, deputy general manager-marketing, Sharp Business Systems, said, "In today's scenario, color has become more affordable and coming in a big way. We had been in the color market previously also, but it is now we have started to focus on it more aggressively. We want to position ourselves more as a solution vendor."
This new MFD will be pushed initially in the metros and all the major cities. In addition to this, Sharp will look to consolidate its channel base in the country with the training of the partners.
Sodhani informed, "As of now we do not want to add more partners, but would like to upgrade the skill sets of partners, in both soft skill as well as technical skill sets. We would especially like our office automation partners to get upgraded on IT skill sets so that they are able to see value. Moreover, the line between an IT channel and OA channel is getting blurred and a OA partner needs to evolve to match its counterparts."
Currently, the company has around 400 partners across the country out of which 30 to 40 percent of the partners are IT partners while the rest of them are OA channel.
Besides this, Sodhani said Sharp might look at re-entering the LCD market in India with its eye on the high-end LCD market. Currently, it is doing test marketing for its 65" LCD monitor priced at Rs 10 lakh-plus.
