Sun Microsystems Intros Partner Advantage Program
By

Mumbai, Oct 30, 2007
Sun Microsystems has announced the implementation of the second phase of the Sun Partner Advantage (SPA) program for the partner community in India. This phase will focus upon the channel partners and will offer a range of benefits designed to support and expand business for this community. The partners will gain access to offerings that speed development and increase revenues.
This program will enable Sun's channel community to engage with Sun in a manner that suits their individual business objectives. Through this program, Sun will align partner capacity with target markets to help reduce competition and market saturation, and will also enable the partners to sell in a non-competitive business environment. It'll also help them to gain sales leverage through Sun's products and its strategic marketing and sales support.
Designed from the ground up and embracing partners' direct feedback, this program leverages a simple, flexible architecture with tiered participation that rewards increased partner commitment with greater investment from Sun. It delivers a wide array of base-level offerings, which can be supplemented with higher levels of partner investment, as well as nomination and technology-based initiatives, helping channels take advantage of Sun's continuing technological advances and innovative business models, and providing them with a clear product and technology roadmap from Sun.
The SPA program will provide an opportunity for channel partners to pursue multiple paths for areas of specialization to either broaden their opportunity or focus on a particular market niche or product area. As partners establish successive accreditations, each can move through the program from the initial member level to a strategically aligned business relationship, realizing financial rewards from increasing their level of engagement. They'll also be assisted by Sun specialists in various verticals such as education, government, IteS, manufacturing, etc.
Speaking on the occasion, Sudhir Nayar, director (partner sales) for Sun said, "The objective of the new partner program is to provide maximum choice to the partner on how they do business with us, the products they sell, and the markets they service, and thereby allow our relationship with the channel partners to grow and evolve. We also seek to build a partner community that adds value for Sun and our customers and at the same time adds to their profitability too. We believe that the SPA program will drive efficiency and simplicity in all aspects of doing business with us".
N R Panicker, CEO for Accel Frontline said, "As a system integrator, we require access to the newest and most cutting-edge technology that we can in turn provide our customers. We've always enjoyed a great business relationship with Sun and with the cutting edge technology access and benefits that Sun will provide us with through this newly launched program, we're confident that we'll enhance our value proposition to the market place and at the same time add to our bottom-line by opening doors to newer revenue opportunities for us."
"Our collaboration with Sun helps us offer customers a comprehensive product portfolio which provides them new business opportunities to accelerate their growth. SPA has helped us access cutting-edge technology and deliver compelling business value to our customers and increase revenue share," said Anand Padmanabhan, vice president (technology infrastructure services) for Wipro Infotech.
Sun Microsystems also recently announced the launch of a Partner Growth Fund, creating a significant pool of money for the members of the SPA program. This new program will empower Sun's network of global partners with rapid and easy access to the most current Sun technology innovations and solutions, enabling partners to expand opportunities for revenue growth.
