Supertron Set to Ink 2 More National Disty Pacts
By
Archana Venkatraman
Mumbai, Jan 2, 2007
After its national distribution tieup with Seagate Technology, Kolkata based Supertron Electronics is all set for major collaboration at the national level with two new vendors by the end of this quarter.
Vishnu Bhandari, director, Supertron Electronics, told ChannelTimes, "It is too early to reveal the details, however, I assure that the vendors have a different portfolio and we will not partner for competing products." Though he declined to name the vendors, Bhandari said the deal with one vendor will be inked by February 2007 while the other one is expected by the end of the quarter.
The new additions are being considered a significant leap for the distributor who had already scripted national distribution partnership with Seagate, Acer, Transcend and Biostar.
Bhandari added, "We would tap more partners in Chandigarh, Raipur and Dehradun and strengthen our forte as a national player providing the vendors with efficient results."
Maintaining that charting out a national roadmap is a big challenge, he said that the company has been able to make a mark with its distribution tieup with hard disk vendor Seagate. "Supertron is now looking forward to expand its basket offer and not overlap the products as it aims to make business lucrative for the channel," he said.
As part of its expansion initiatives, the distributor has already set up an office in China for sourcing its 'Supercomp products' and has opened service stations in key IT hubs Bangalore, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Kolkata to handle service-related issues across all regions.
Bhandari said, "We have about 20 branches across India that stock and sell products, a master service center in Kolkata and regional service support system. Our ERPs are in place too for national distribution, so the vendors need not worry about the credit aspect as we fix the credit limit for partners on their performance."
Stating that Supertron is already scouting for new partners for its new vendors, Bhandari said, "We have separate product managers for every vendor-product and even Supercomp products. Now our intent is to tap more partners and strengthen our forte as a national player."
Currently, the company is looking for partners in B&C category cities as they are the "potential market", Bhandari said, adding Raipur, Chandigarh and Dehradun would be new focus areas and by March 2007 channel setup would be ready in these places.
According to Bhandari, Supertron has registered a growth rate of 43 percent, taking the turnover figure to about Rs 230 crore.

I think supertron need to have clear policies w.r,t distribution like Redington, Ingram if they have to grow big. They should not behave like a retailer of Nehru place , lamington road etc. Supertron has to sit back and reconsider their policies. They are doing business like a small time retailer. Selling 5 -5 pcs to each and every counter disturbing the whole channel. Vibhor ji, Pls sit and think. |
