Symantec Adopts 2-Pronged Growth Plan
By

New Delhi, Mar 10, 2008
Symantec, the California-based security solution provider, is adopting a two-pronged strategy to grow its market share in the enterprise and home segments where it sees tremendous potential for revenue.
Explaining its strategy, Ajay Verma, director-channels & alliances of Symantec, said, "Our focus would be on providing the depth and width of solutions with the help of our channel partners throughout the country. On the one hand Symantec will focus on an extensive range of services to provide end-to-end solution specifically suited to meet the needs of the particular segment or client. And on the other hand we will try to expand the reach of our products by increasing our channel base."
The company plans to add new channel partners to cater to a much wider region and address new areas especially in smaller cities. However, it has no plans to add new distributors to its existing partners, Ingram Micro and Redington.
Symantec also plans to conduct training programs for the newly appointed channel partners. Incidentally, the company conducts 250 training programs every year, and plans to conduct at least the same number of programs in 2008 as well.
Detailing on the training program, Verma said, "In last two months, we have already conducted training programmes in more than 12 cities. The purpose of such training programmes is to spread awareness on the new technology and trends in the market, along with adequate product information. We will now target enterprise, SMBs, SOHOs and end-consumers too."
