TVSE Bags Rs 11.6 Cr LIC Order for DMPs & Keyboard

By ChannelTimes Staff
Bangalore, Jan 17, 2006

TVS-Electronics, the computer peripherals manufacturer of dot matrix printers (DMPs), keyboards, power conditioning systems, set-top boxes, consumables and service products, recently announced that it has bagged Rs 11.6 crore order from Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC).

According to the company, this order is the single largest in the dot matrix printer category, and is for the supply and installation of 14,000 units of TVS-E's MSP355 dot matrix printers and 16,000 units of TVS Gold keyboards. The supply and installation was extended to over 2,000 branches of LIC across the country.

Commenting on the order win, S. Narendran, GM-marketing, TVS-E, said, "LIC is one of our major customers in India and they have been extremely happy with the products we have supplied over the years. This order is the single largest printer order ever from LIC of India and TVS-E has bagged a major portion of the total order because we are the only registered partner who meets one of their critical needs, viz. reducing the cost per transaction print. TVS-E s national reach and expertise in implementing such large-scale projects in the past have helped us win the order."

The MSP355 model of DMPs will enable LIC to print every premium receipt at less than two paise per page. The TVS Gold keyboard uses high quality mechanical switches and laser etched wear-resistant keytops, which make the keyboards last five times longer than ordinary keyboards and ensure least fatigue to the power user, the company claimed.

The order involved a massive logistics exercise for the company. TVS-E worked closely with major institutional suppliers such as PCS, Wipro, Accel and CMS to fulfill the requirements of LIC.
How significant is this order for TVS-E?

Mr.Chandran We thought PCS is a company who has QC department who will check the product and supply to customer like LIC. What ISO standards you guys have. Means you supply rubbish proucts to LIC without proper inspections. We also see other OEM supply rubbish monitors and inputs to us. We are appointing a committee to check these issues.

Hi Noel You are correct , i had tough time dealing with CMS. Though i am very small compared to LIPI etc , but to recover from CMS is very difficult, indeed thier accounts dept is just like any other Babu types...John..chill out man...do not give false promises...even you yawn whenever anyone calls for payments.

This is the only Corporate client left out for TVS to give some Bulk Nos but IDC reports still puts TVS DMPs at around 35 % Mkt Share against Epson's over 55% Mkt Share. This open announcement will be music to Epson's ear to attack next LIC.....
