TVSE Sets the Stage for Growth
By

Delhi, Mar 5, 2007
Chennai-based TVS Electronics (TVSE) has announced major plans to strengthen its core platforms, transaction automation products and customer support services, but ruled out snapping ties with existing national distributor.
These plans entail funds of around rupees 50-60 Crores. To garner these resources, the company has taken immediate action and sold off its Tumkur, the Bangalore-based contract-manufacturing business to the Finland-based contract-manufacturing firm, Incap Corporation.
Gopal Srinivasan, director, TVSE, says, "It has taken us over a year of planning and discussions to reach this important phase to prepare TVS Electronics for the next stage of growth. For the last two years, our revenues have not grown to our expectations and we believe that enabling growth is the foremost challenge for the future of the company and its stakeholders."
TVSE is all set for growth based on the ability to create exclusive focus on each of the two platforms. Add to it the availability of funding and the satisfaction of having a contract manufacturing services business grow in the hands of a reliable and capable buyer.
Incap's strategy seeks strong growth and internationalization. For this end, the company has been exploring the possibility of starting manufacturing operations in India. It even has a sales office in New Delhi since early 2006. "This move will continue to provide services to our customers in India and Europe, who will benefit additionally from Incap's global contract manufacturing delivery platform", informs Srinivasan.
According to V.A. Raghu, director, corporate services group, TVSE, " Tumkur's CMS business was contributing around Rs. 28 crore to the company's turnover. It was also manufacturing keyboards. Now, the company has shifted the keyboard production to its new unit in Uttaranchal. In addition to Dot Matrix Printers (DMPs) and others products, the new plant will start manufacturing keyboards as well." He also assures, The new development will not impact our channel partners and suppliers. Important partners and suppliers at Tumkur have already set up their logistics in Uttaranchal, so keyboard distribution will not be affected.
Raghu further explains, "TVSE is evolving from a dominant DMP player to a transaction products provider, leveraging our strengths of low running cost and rugged products. Our customer support service is one of the growth engines with the budgeted revenue of Rs.28 Crores for the current fiscal.
This business delivers repair services across 360 towns in India. Its current customer base includes Lenovo, Sony Ericsson, Haier, ICICI, Huawei and Motorola. The company expects this business to sustain a high, double-digit growth in the foreseeable future. In order to increase focus with depth, this business is being transferred to a subsidiary company whose name is yet to be announced. This, however, will be fully owned by TVSE.
According to Askok Desikan, senior manager, TVSE, "By end of March, TVSE will plan out its new channel strategies.
There is a buzz in the channel that the company is looking for new regional distributors and is planning to snap ties with its national distributors Redington and Ingram Micro. To this, Desikan clarifies that the company will retain its national distribution model and will not re-adopt the regional model.

The company must look for a few new regional distributors with out snap ties with its national distributors . Because national distributor will serve the rural and other part of India rather than metro and regional distributors will do the best in the metros . This will boost the business of our old partner . with all the best wishes to you and your team of MR.Gopal srinivasan & Ashok Desikan
