Tirupati Extends Range, Adds Genius Brand

Kolkata-based Tirupati Enterprises recently tied up with Taiwan-based Kye Systems to foray into the peripherals market. Tirupati is the second national distributor of Genius, the other being Transtek Infoways.
Abhishek Kejriwal, GM, Tirupati Enterprises, said, "Tirupati has always been known as a component distributing company, but with Genius this is the first time we are moving to peripherals and expand our existing portfolio. Our channel has been very receptive to this move and we have already received the first shipment from Genius."
He added, "We are excited about this tieup as it is a new line of business for us. Genius being among the top three brands in keyboards, mice, etc, we will definitely try to put focus and increase the market share in India. We will push it evenly across India as it is a new brand and also does not conflict with any of our other products."
Tirupati will be distributing those Genius products that are not offered by Transtek.
According to Sandeep Ramani, country manager, Kye Systems, "Transtek Infoways is doing a wonderful job for Genius in India and we appreciate their efforts in building up the brand Genius. However, the geography of the country is so vast and so is our product basket that it requires one more partner to tap the entire potential in the cut-throat competition."
Tirupati will be offering different products than what is being offered by Transtek to the market, thus ensuring that no conflict of product arises due to the new distribution tieup. "We believe that multiple partners will only compliment each other and, in turn, it would help everybody grow at a much faster pace. We are targeting to become a significant player in the Indian marketplace and we are looking for at least 100 percent growth in next nine-12 months period," Ramani added, saying, "We do not have any plans for regional tieups as our distribution covers the entire geography now."
Navin Mishra, regional sales manager, Tirupati, said, "As for the west zone, we are tying up with small partners within the next week. We are aiming for five partners in Mumbai, two each in Pune and Ahmedabad exclusively for Genius products. We are planning to tie up with partners having a greater reach and penetration in terms of keyboards and mice."
Tirupati's branch offices will handle the replacement and service issues apart from Transtek, as Genius has no service centers in India. Genius products consist of keyboards, mice, MP3 players, speakers and headphones, among others, and carry a warranty of three years. Tirupati distributes brands like MSI, Gecube, Corsair and AMD, and now Genius.
On Kye's future plans to assist channel, Ramani said, "We may appoint Genius RMA centers in India soon and are now doing seminars and channel meets in various cities to create awareness and encourage partners to discuss strategy and products."
