Toshiba Claims Leadership in Multifunction Devices

Toshiba announced it has gained a market share of 26 percent in A3 sized MFDs in India. The company is commemorating 25 years of its distribution partnership with HCL.
The company cited market research by IDC, according to which Toshiba e-Studio is at number one position in terms of total volumes shipped in the product category.
Elaborating on its growth in the subcontinent Yuichi Nozawa, GM-International operations, EID (Electronic Imaging Division), Toshiba Singapore, said, "Toshiba acknowledges India as an important market. We demonstrated our commitment towards the growing Indian market by setting up an exclusive e-Studio showroom, the first of its kind to simulate an office environment. Over the years, Toshiba has invested heavily in terms of various marketing initiatives. Our commitment towards the Indian market has paid rich dividends."
On its partnership with HCL, Nozawa said, "HCL successfully distributes and supports a wide-variety of products from Toshiba's portfolio in India. Owing to the strength of this relationship we are poised to realize the vast opportunity that Indian market presents. Our long standing partnership with HCL is committed to offer cost effective solutions backed by excellent post-sales support."
HCL has a channels base of more than 150 partners and robust sales & services network with 104 offices across the country. V. Rajendren, associate VP (Sales & Marketing), HCL Infinet, said, "The combination of Toshiba's state of the art products and HCL's extensive market reach represents a powerful partnership in India. We will continually enhance our channels focus to grow Toshiba's market share in the country."
According to the company, the target focus areas for business exploration are insurance, pharma, ITES, banking, government, infrastructure and education sectors wherein company can make further inroads and customize MFD solutions according to their needs. The company said it had sold over 8,000 units during the last fiscal while it is expecting to double this number in the current year.
Nalini Jolly, national operations manager, Toshiba India, opined, "The MFD market in India is growing at a stupendous pace. We have already taken a big leap during the transitional phase when digital technology took over from the analogue one and now we are equally upbeat to sustain our leadership position when the shift is from black and white to the coloured."
