By

Mumbai, Feb 15, 2006
The computer systems division of Toshiba Singapore Pte. Ltd., in partnership with HCL Infosystems, has unveiled a series of new concept stores named 'shopToshiba' for its mobile computing products for the home, SOHO and SMB customers.
In the first phase of rollout, the two companies have established seven 'shopToshiba' stores in Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Gurgaon and Mumbai. The two partners plan to extend this network of exclusive retail stores to 15 cities by the end of 2006.
L. Ramprasad, associate vice president-Toshiba mobile computing business, HCL Infosystems, said, "This initiative will add a new dimension to the retailing of mobile computing products in India. We hope to provide consumers a unique experience of cutting-edge Toshiba notebooks through this initiative, backed by well-informed staff that understands the nuances of consumer requirements. 'shopToshiba' will not just help enhance brand presence, it will create a strong retail identity and in the process will make our products accessible to a much larger number of consumers."
"We aim to further leverage these concept stores by introducing these across other markets, nationally," he added.
Each 'shopToshiba' concept store, with a strategic channel representative location, will showcase Toshiba's most innovative mobile computing devices and complementary accessories right from the world's slimmest lightweight notebooks with the latest cinematic multimedia-rich screens, to wireless Tablet PCs. In addition, these stores will also provide post-sales products that are a part of "Toshiba Must Have" gadgets aimed at giving the customers an entertaining shopping experience.
"Toshiba's mobile computing strategy is driven mostly by the voice of customers," said Ivan Kam, distributor manager of Toshiba Singapore's computer systems division. "Our one-stop concept stores located around the region will also act as an invaluable platform to further research, develop and introduce new products to meet our customers' needs. In turn, customers also benefit as well by receiving up-to-date information on Toshiba technology from these knowledgeable retail representatives."
Toshiba has already established over 100 Toshiba touch points across Asia since 2002, and expects to grow this concept drastically.

Beware dealers in Chennai, HCL gives you their leaptops saying it is a demo, but it automatically gets billed and they take the chq from you after 15 days. I think they are also giving these leaptops as adjustments against ORC. All this to acheive their targets. The products of leaptops sucksssssss.....People not taking it for free as well. |

Old Wine again in Old Bottle? Sounds quite uninteresting. ShopToshiba is around us for 5+ years. There's no use as long as Toshiba is handled by HCL. Let Toshiba open up more Distributorships in India. It will become no.1. Now it's slowly settling at No.5 Position. No.5 or None (A Phrase in IT). With HCL, Toshiba can never reach to No.1. Let Dell, HP, IBM, Acer enjoy. |

What an Irony? Toshiba pioneered Notebook PC business. I don't remember someone launched Toshiba business in India way back in 1990. Now in the hands of HCL, Toshiba is taking a beat, not hot beat? Aha ! Hey Toshiba get wise, or you lose? |
