The computer systems division of Toshiba Singapore and provider of portable computers announced the launch of five new products to mark the 20th anniversary of the world's first mass-market laptop computer - the Toshiba T1100.
The new notebooks introduced in partnership with HCL Infosystems, the information enabling company, include: limited edition of the Libretto U100 MiniNote, the premium slim ultra-portable Portege R200, the TECRA M4, the Qosmio E10 and Qosmio G20 with the TV tuner card - the 4-in-1 AV Notebook PC, and Satellite M50, a lightweight 14" widescreen notebook.

Ivan Kam, distributor business manager of Toshiba Singapore's computer systems division, said, "For the last 20 years, Toshiba's single-minded focus on mobility and quality has been the main force behind the creation of today's world of mobile computing. An unrivalled heritage and an ongoing commitment to developing state-of-the-art mobile technology make Toshiba the undisputed market leader, continuing to drive forward the vision for the ubiquitous networked society."

The Libretto U100 MiniNote is a 980 gm, miniaturized, portable computing device incorporating smallest possible form factors like a half size mini PCI wireless card. The Libretto U100 MiniNote is being brought back with latest technology in response to the overwhelming customer demand, the company said. The TECRA M4 is a new mainstream tablet PC for business users.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajendra Kumar, executive vice president-Frontline Division, HCL infosystems, said, "HCL has been Toshiba's exclusive partner for various product categories in India. Toshiba-HCL relationship has grown tremendously over the years and HCL takes pride in saying that this relationship has been a mutually rewarding one, for us to be Toshiba's trusted and longstanding partner and to Toshiba to be able to enjoy a national reach with HCL's sales and support network. We are looking forward to take this relationship to greater heights and have planned a slew of launches across the country to commemorate the occasion."

The new notebooks are priced in the range of from Rs 80,000 to Rs 1,90,000.

Since its launch of the T1100, Toshiba has recorded worldwide cumulative sales of more than 37 million notebook computers through 2004, according to industry analyst IDC.

Sir, My Toshiba Satellite A135-S2286 has stopped working yesterday. When I press the Power switch it blinks hardly a second and CD player also blink after that it stopped and there is no display. Dear Rajesh I think you are so afraid of Toshiba service that you decided to buy another brand but in INDIA we should not worry about the services provided by their manufacturers bacause So many Talented people are providing services for the people like u and me.After HCL refussed to do it fortunatelly I got the number of one service centre PCTECH COMPUTERS in NOIDA for the repairs of my Toshiba Laptop they did my job in less then half the cost then HCL charges and excellent job was done.thanks to MR.Prem K.Singh the owner of service centre who very much intellectual and experienced in his work .In my opinion we should recommend the people to such kind of service centres not to those (like HCL )who do not respond the customers in proper manner. Thanks to channeltimes for providing this kind of plateform for the public opinion.

I just bought a new laptop A135-S2276 with Vista Home basic. But I cannot get connected to the MTNL broad band which I have on my desk top. The laptop is refusing to load the driver??? Is it because the driver is of the ADSL router is not compatable??
