VASCO Data Security International, the software security company specializing in authentication products, announced the launch of Digipass 810 for the Asian markets.
VASCO's popular Smart Card CAP reader has been upgraded and redesigned for the Asian markets, accommodating Asian character sets, the company said. The display of Digipass 810 has been redesigned and supports all Asian character sets as long as they can be represented in a 80X14 dot matrix line. This way VASCO enables its Asian retail banking customers to offer their end-users a standalone EMV-CAP E compliant card reader with e-signature capability.
Digipass 810 auto-initializes when the user inserts its smartcard and enters his PIN for two-factor authentication. Each time the user enters his PIN, a one-time password (OTP) will be generated and displayed. The OTP is used by the end-user to authenticate himself when accessing the online banking application. This dynamic password can only be used once and will be verified by the bank. The verification of this OTP ensures the cardholder's identity and will allow the user to make transactions. Next to OTP generation, Digipass 810 also enables e-signature capability, the ultimate weapon against man-in-the-middle attacks.
Digipass 810 builds upon the company's VACMAN Controller technology for authentication. For electronic payments it can also be integrated into a 3D-Secure architecture, allowing cardholders to sign account data to complete online transactions.
Digipass 810 combines the security of a smartcard with the flexibility of OTP-technology. It requires no personalization or installation, which facilitates distribution and user-friendliness for a large number of retail bank customers.
