Vdopia Bets Big on Indian Market

By Kapil Mudholkar
Mumbai, Jul 15, 2009 1253 hrs IST

Saurabh Bhatia, Chief Business Officer, Vdopia Media and Software Solutions, in an interview with Kapil Mudholkar, talks about online video advertising market, and India plans. Excerpts...

How do you see the growth of online video advertising in the India market?

According to an E&Y report, the online video advertisement industry is poised to grow at 300 percent in 2009. The industry is growing at a rapid pace, and we as a company are witnessing over 500 percent growth Y-o-Y in revenues and in the number of campaigns. We own almost 80 percent of the market share, and have done over 200 campaigns in the last fiscal year.

More and more brand advertisers are now acknowledging the online video advertising medium. Vdopia estimates that US market stats for 2009 can be replicated in India 5 years from now.

What are your India plans?

We are planning to extend our presence in the mobile video advertising technology platform in the fourth quarter of 2009. And majority of media companies are using the Vdopia Technology Platform.

Explain the concept of iVdopia.

The company has launched iVdopia, its iPhone 3G ad platform and network. With iVdopia, the iPhone becomes the most potent means to engage users, anytime and anywhere.

It has the widest range of engaging ad formats, including pre-application advertising videos, and for the first time, sponsorship to the iPhone. As the premium iPhone advertising platform and network, iVdopia provides application developers with a large inventory of brand advertisements and the ability to serve their own ad campaigns.

While some ad networks use only banner ads, iVdopia supports the widest and most engaging ad formats, allowing brands to reach out to users in the most immersive ways possible. Pre-app video, logo placement, banner ads - and, for the first time, sponsorship ads to the iPhone applications are available.

Do you think the roll out 3G services will create more opportunities for the companies like Vdopia?

As discussed in the first question, we would venture into the mobile video advertising space. The 3G rollout nationwide will create a huge opportunity for us.

Mobile advertising is still in nascent stage, and mobile video advertising will be the next big thing for us. The global mobile advertising market is expected to grow to $ 9.6 million by 2010.

The mobile penetration in India is increasing at double the rate every year and mobile advertising will be a necessary driver for the development and commercialization of the mobile Internet, just as online video advertising has been for the Internet to-date.

Please brief us about your offerings.

Vdopia provides services like Vdopia Ad platform, Vdopia Ad Network and Creative Services to its partners. Vdopia's proprietary BrandConnect Ad technology combines the advantages of TV and Internet, and provides unprecedented value to large brand advertisers (by delivering innovative branding and advertising solutions) and for publishers,(by maximizing revenue opportunities around video).

Vdopia helps content providers to generate revenue and increase their ROI. Innovation has been the buzzword at Vdopia. The company has been coming out with extremely innovative advertising solutions from its VDO LAB like Skin Branding with product placement; moving video product innovation; skin branding with overlay innovation.

We also provide complete video platform and technology support and we also have the highest inventory fill rate in the industry. With specialization in video monetization, video analytics, video innovations, video technology, video ad serving, we offer unparalleled experience and offerings to our partner publishers.

What do you think of this development?
