ViewSonic Launches CASA Series LCDs
By

Mumbai, Nov 2, 2007
ViewSonic has launched its new CASA series of LCDs ranging from 17-inch to 22-inch models.
The new series includes a 17-inch widescreen model - VA1716w, 2 conventional 19-inch models - VA916 and VA926, 2 19-inch widescreen models VA1916w and VA1926w; 2 20-inch widescreen models - VA2016w and VA2026w, and 2 22-inch widescreen models - VA2216w and VA2226w.
The 17-inch VA1716w, 19-inch VA926, 20-inch VA2026w, and 22-inch VA2226w models have a DVI output, while the others are non DVI models.
The entire range features the Dynamic Contrast Ratio (DCR) technology, which enhances LCD contrast ratio up to 2000:1. This technology enables automatic detection of the image signal, and controls the backlight brightness accordingly.
For instance, when watching an image in a dark room, if a dark scene contains small areas of super bright light, they may appear sacrificed and blown out. But with the DCR technology, the user is able to experience lower black levels while watching darker movies or video games, the company said.
Secondly, owing to DCR being able to automatically detect image source to adjust LCD panel back light, it consumes less power. Compared to conventional LCDs, which have the backlight always on, the voltage of LCDs with DCR technology is flexible based on the contrast ratio.
In addition, the CASA series also features the ClearMotiv II technology, which is able to demonstrate the smooth video performance and deliver broadcast-quality, fast-action video for gaming, entertainment and graphic-intensive applications, thus resulting in a faster response time. All the models have a response time of 5-milliseconds.
The 19-inch widescreen models VA1916w and VA1926w are priced at Rs 11,250 and Rs. 11,500, respectively. The 20-inch widescreen models VA2016w and VA2026w are priced at Rs. 13,500 and Rs. 14,000, respectively; and the 22-inch widescreen models VA2216w and VA2226w would cost Rs. 17,000 and Rs. 17,500.

Buy Viewsonic at your own peril. I got a 20" LCD about one and half years ago. They shipped a defective monitor. Took four weeks to get a replacement, after threatning to go to consumer courts.
Now, the monitor has developed a line of bad pixels and the replacement is expected from the last five weeks.
This is the last viewsonic product I bought. Never am I going to make this mistake again. I am buying 15, 19" monitors for my company Samsung it is. |
