Warranty Not a Concern, Say HP Partners
By
Yuga Chaudhari
Mumbai, Jul 28, 2007
At a time when partners do not miss an opportunity to cry foul against vendors on vexing issues like warranty, HP has proved an exception where its printers are concerned.
According to Agra-based Vivek Sharma of Computer and Communication, "As compared to other brands, the response from the vendor on warranty issues is faster. There are two service centers located in Agra that provide timely services whenever required."
Elaborating on the company's service initiatives, V. Krishnan, GM (Consumer Sales, Imaging & Printing Group) of HP India Sales, said, "For HP all products come with adequate warranty and are serviced by authorized service providers spread over 164 cities and 352 service locations. We make sure that customers will get hassle-free service support."
For warranty support, the vendor has adopted a route that is suitable for the channel partners to register their complaints. "HP provides support through a set of independent authorized service providers and also through service partners who may also be sales channel partners," Krishnan said.
However, some of the partners feel that the company should increase its number of authorized service providers. Annop Agarwal of Ampersand Computers, Kanpur, said, "Kanpur has one service provider that caters to the entire Kanpur market. Thus making it difficult for it to handle all the complaints coming in."
The company also provides online help in case of warranty issues. Partners can register their complaints at the HP website, which gets triggered into HP's internal Complaint & Compliment Handling System (CCHS). There is a dedicated Total Customer Experience & Quality(TCE & Q) team to handle various complaints logged in the system with a given timeframe of 3 business days. Also there are toll-free numbers dedicated for consumer and commercial customers to resolve warranty issues.
Madurai-based R. S. Senthilkumar of Senshaa Technologies said that it is a good initiative taken by the company as end-customers can also directly register their complaints here.

Every Fortnight we get at least one case when HP Service Station demands abnormally high charge for repairing out of warranty cases. One customer was charged Rs.11000 for replacing power unit of the printer while Brand new printer had costed him just Rs.13000 with full warranty. Such cases are Very Common and very Expensive for HP's reputation. |

Rather than having more service centres , efficient service should be the goal. We have a CLJ lying at HP service centrs for last 1 month - but we r not getting any service/replacement |
