ViewSonic Corporation, a manufacturer and provider of visual technology, specifically LCD monitors, is planning to launch a 22-inch 120Hz 3D monitor in India. In an exclusive interview with ChannelTimes, Gautam Ghosh, Country Manager, ViewSonic Technologies (India), shares the company's plans and its channel programme with Pallabika Ganguly. Excerpts...
How is ViewSonic's business in India shaping up? What is your present objective?
Performance is in line with our business plans in India. In fact, in a very short span of time, we have positioned ourselves amongst the top three display brands of the country. This year, too, we are planning further to consolidate our business operations, and remain as an important player in the market. Recently, we were recognized as the no.1 brand in standalone 22-inch width category as per IDC Asia Pacific PC monitor tracker 1Q08.
What are the new products you are going to launch in India, and when?
This year, we expect 'innovation with precision' to play a major role in the buying behavior of the end-users. To address this growing trend, ViewSonic will introduce some technologically-advanced products in India in the coming months. We will be launching full HD 1080p series of LCD monitors in India. Promising to elevate work plan and entertainment viewing, ViewSonic Full HD series will come pre-loaded with 1080p resolution for crisp text and precise graphics, super-fast 2ms video response time, SRS WOW HD sound technology for crystal-clear audio and a HD widescreen that will let its users work faster and play harder. Also, we would be launching our 22-inch 120Hz 3D monitor in India. ViewSonic's 120 Hz monitor promises rich, colorful and blur-free video performance, while delivering stereoscopic 3D when used with GeForce Stereoscopic 3D gaming technology. This makes it for an ideal display solution for gaming and home entertainment segment.
Are you focusing on bringing mobility in the visual products?
ViewSonic believes in introducing products that combine technology advancements, rich performance and features matrix. Mobility too forms an important feature for consideration and upgradation.
What kind of market potential are you finding here for your new products?
The audio visual market is getting personalized and becoming 'display-centric', where display becomes the focal point for both accessing information as well as entertainment. In India, monitor market is already experiencing a boom time. Higher resolutions, full HD wider screens, multi-functional solutions and integration of other computing peripherals such as speakers, webcam, iPod are revolutionizing this segment like never before. We expect this trend to continue.
What is your marketing plan for these products in India?
At ViewSonic, we follow 360-degree marketing approach to promote our products. Right from advertising to empowering channel to sell effectively, we constantly work to offer innovative schemes to help the channel fraternity sell more.
What is your strategy to reach out to the customers in India's remote places?
We believe in market expansion by introducing a new range of products to cater to all the segments. At ViewSonic, we offer a comprehensive product line of LCD monitors along with an exhaustive range of projectors, comprising DLP and LCD technology to suit the needs of home entertainment and business solutions. To reach out to tier-II and tier-III cities, we would be recruiting more channel partners across these cities, and will offer exciting product solutions and schemes.
