'We'll Strengthen our India Operations' (Part II)

By Pallabika Ganguly
Mumbai, Dec 02, 2008 1510 hrs IST

ViewSonic Corporation, a manufacturer and provider of visual technology, specifically LCD monitors, is planning to launch a 22-inch 120Hz 3D monitor in India. In an exclusive interview with ChannelTimes, Gautam Ghosh, Country Manager, ViewSonic Technologies (India), shares the company's plans and its channel programme with Pallabika Ganguly. Excerpts... Are you going to appoint new sub-distributors or any new partners shortly? At ViewSonic, we have a 3-tier channel strategy, moving from distributors to master dealers (Silver FINCH Club Members) and resellers. We are planning to expand our channel base by recruiting more partners in this value chain. How can new partners join your team? New partners can join the ViewSonic's channel structure by enrolling themselves through ViewSonic India 'Finch Club'. This club offers an interactive platform through exciting schemes and training programmes for its club members on a regular basis. What are the cutting edges of your technology that will help partners selling your products easily in India? In India, ViewSonic offers a range of LCD and CRT monitors, starting from 15-inch to 28-inch. Our monitor series CASA and MFM series like VX2255wmb/h with webcam integration and professional series like VP50 with OptiColor technology were appreciated across the segments. Recently, we launched our new series of LCD monitors, VX62 series. The series, which includes invisible speakers and a glossy black finish, provide consumers with a display that will be aesthetically pleasing in many rooms of the home and office. These displays tout industry-leading 20000:1 contrast ratio and color performance in a unique, multiuse design to enhance the PC entertainment experience and desktop computing. How is ViewSonic doing worldwide? Worldwide ViewSonic demonstrated its display leadership recently by unveiling Full HD 1080p series of LCD monitors. This series comes loaded with 1080p resolution, super-fast 2ms video response time, SRS WOW HD sound technology and a true HD widescreen that will let its users work faster and play harder. Worldwide ViewSonic also introduced the first 120Hz desktop LCD technology. This 22-inch 120Hz prototype delivers rich, colorful, blur-free video performance on traditional gaming, entertainment and graphic applications, while also delivering eye-popping stereoscopic 3D when used with GeForce Stereoscopic 3D gaming technology. The 22-inch 120Hz display coupled with 3ms gray-to-gray response time provides much better Motion Picture Response Time (MPRT) than the typical fast-response displays available in the market today, virtually removing the appearance of motion artifacts and ghosting. What does ViewSonic offer in the projector front? In the projector front, ViewSonic offers an exhaustive line of both DLP and LCD Projectors. Our products provide the best color performance and contrast ratio. Not only that our projectors come with innovative ViewMatch function, which improves color saturation in DLP projectors extensively, but also Short Throw Lens equipped ViewSonic LCD projectors help reduce 1/3 of distance for same projection image. Our projectors also come with 2 years Warranty with additional 1 year Warranty for Projector Lamp, which is the 1st of its kind in the Indian market. How much supportive is your present service infrastructure, and what are your new plans to strengthen it? In our commitment to provide the best of the display technology solutions for India, ViewSonic has established a dedicated and professional service support infrastructure for India. To offer world class service support ViewSonic appointed top of the line service support partners for post sales support. Through these partners, we offer service support in over 120 locations across India. In future too, we plan to strengthen this by expanding the service infrastructure. Do you feel recession in IT sector this year will affect your business? Recession will help companies to consolidate their business operations, which will eventually benefit the organizations as well as their customers. We do not feel it will impact our businesses any further. What is on anvil for the ViewSonic channel partners? Channel partners can look forward to a great growth trajectory with ViewSonic products in India. (Concluded) Related Link: 'We will Strengthen our India Operations' (Part I)

It is quite amazing how a company with such good products have hardly anybody responsible for their service and sales activities in India. In Kerala they had initially gathered good market share through breadth billing. However one fine morning, the multi level model as explained above came and things have been looking down since then. The way things are going, they may ovetake Intel & AMD in implementing foolish marketing stategies and horrible service.
