Wipro, Nortel Enter 16th Year of Offshore Alliance

Nortel and Wipro Technologies, the global IT services arm of Wipro Limited, on September 8 celebrated 15 years of collaboration in developing and supporting next-generation products for service provider and enterprise customers worldwide.
This marks the establishment, in 1991, of one of the first offshore development centers in India dedicated to telecommunications R&D. Currently, Wipro provides end-to-end design, system integration, consulting, software release management and support for Nortel's carrier and enterprise product lines, as well as a multi-site, geographically dispersed engineering services delivery model.
John Haydon, chief procurement officer, Nortel, said, "Wipro's robust processes, in-depth telecommunications knowledge, R&D expertise and product engineering skills have made Wipro a highly valued supplier over the last 15 years Wipro's support has helped Nortel to develop and deliver advanced telecommunications solutions that provide substantial cost and performance benefits to our customers."
Ramesh Emani, president, product engineering solutions, Wipro Technologies, added, "Nortel has been at the forefront of research and innovation in the telecommunications industry for more than a century, and Wipro is proud to have worked with Nortel over the last 15 years in several strategic areas including new product development and innovation. Wipro is a 'gold' member of Nortel's nPower Channel Partner Program and is focused on providing voice and data solutions to Indian enterprises. Wipro is also a Nortel recommended provider for engineering services associated with the implementation, integration and maintenance of Nortel solutions.
