Mumbai, Nov 10, 2006
Graphics card manufacturer XFX recently released its all-new Geforce 8800 GTX and Geforce 8800 GTS graphics processing units (GPUs) in India through its national distributor Rashi Peripherals.
Based on the new Geforce 8 graphics architecture, these powerful Geforce 8800 GTX and Geforce 8800 GTS GPUs are the industry's first DirectX 10 compatible GPUs and are the reference GPUs for the DirectX 10 development and certification.
Sunny Narain, VP-regional sales, XFX, Hong Kong, said, "These new GPUs are faster than a dual Geforce 7900 GTX running in SLI mode. Faster even than a single Geforce 7950 GX2 card. The Geforce 8800 GTX has a 24 pixel per clock ROP and the GTS a 20 pixel per clock ROP."
The new GPUs feature Nvidia GigaThread technology that supports thousands of independent simultaneous threads for maximum GPU utilization. Shader Model 4.0 enables more complex operations on the GPU and reduces the load and CPU cycles. Stream Out enables programmers to add more detail without having to re-render the entire pipeline and Geometry Shaders permit geometry creation and tessellation for smooth curved surfaces and more lifelike character animation, including more realistic facial expressions and hair. Occupying the space of two slots, each of these GPUs uses high-speed GDDR3 memory and are HDCP capable.
The new 8800 series graphic cards is available through Rashi's 47 branches and select Rashi partners all over India. The suggested end-user price (tax paid) is: Model No. PV-T80G-THF9 (8800GTS) Rs 34,000 and Model No. PV-T80F-SHF9 (8800GTX) Rs 42,000. All XFX graphics cards carry three-year Rashi warranty.
