Zenith InfoTech, an IT product development company with 27,000 customers worldwide, announced the global launch of its first of its kind computing platform - PROUD, a single infrastructure for running all business computing needs. A private cloud computing system, PROUD is a completely new paradigm on how IT infrastructure will be purchased, used and managed, the company said.
PROUD has been engineered by over 250 computer scientists, across Belgium, Germany, Mumbai and Bangalore, working for more than four years, at a total cost of Rs. 175 crore. PROUD replaces the need for customers to buy computing and network hardware as separate and difficult to manage components. Customers can run their entire IT infrastructure within as virtual machines within the cloud environment be it desktops (which now run as virtual desktops), servers as well as appliances such as firewalls, routers and VoIP systems.
Advanced functionality such as high-availability, instant failover, continuous backups, predictive failure monitoring and granular capacity management, which traditionally have been expensive and separately paid for items, are an integral part of the PROUD platform. PROUD s unique scale-out approach to computing, allows customers to add capacity when they need it without undergoing expensive rip and replace cycles. With PROUD, Zenith is providing CIOs and IT managers with an industrial strength computing infrastructure that is highly reliable, redundant, easy to manage and yet is cost effective. It allows these professionals to get a business computing platform that works all the time, provides them the flexibility to run different workloads as well as does not throw surprises in terms of unbudgeted and untimely upgrades. It gives the benefits of very high up-time, along with low costs.
Akash Saraf, CEO of Zenith InfoTech, said, Cloud Computing is the classic disruptive technology. Within five years from now IT departments will either be cloud consumers (use an externally hosted cloud) or a cloud operator (build and manage their own clouds). With PROUD we want to provide IT departments with the control and ownership, and yet at reliability levels that are higher than external clouds and yet cost levels that are lower. Zenith s products are sold through over 4,000 resellers worldwide. Some customers of Zenith s products include globally well-known names like BMW, Thyssen Krupp, Ferrari, Sony, Tata Chemicals, and Cipla.
