Zenith Set to Debut a Smart PC Sans CPU!

By ChannelTimes Staff
Mumbai, Apr 8, 2008

PC manufacturer Zenith Computers has unveiled a 'Smartstyle PC' with the central processing unit (CPU) embedded behind the slim LCD screen, so that it is almost invisible.

This new concept compresses the PC's functionality into a device that is just about the size of an LCD screen, making CPU racks and cabinets meant for placing external CPUs redundant.

Zenith is positioning the product, which is expected to be available some time later in April, between the laptop and the desktop in the lifestyle segment, thus creating a new category.

Raj Saraf, chairman and managing director of Zenith Computers, said, "It has desktop performance with power consumption equivalent to a laptop."

The all-in-one desktop sports a wide TFT monitor, which contains the entire CPU in the same casing. It features a 17" WXGA, with built-in speakers and Intel Dual processor T2130, with 1 GB memory and hard disk capacity of 80 GB. The product is priced at Rs.20,000.

The 'Smartstyle PC' has been developed at Zenith's new Product Development Centre (NPDC) in Goa. The warranty period for the product is between 1-5 years.

"We are mainly targeting the corporate segment, like banking, BPO and retail sectors," said Saraf. The company believes that the new PC will appeal to both the youth and the enterprise segments.

The company also announced a new 24X7 after-sales support initiative called "Always on", focusing on 'zero pending' calls every day. "The biggest challenge today is service. We have sales service that few can match up to," said Saraf.

THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT AND WILL BE WELCOMED BY EVERY ONE PARTICULARLY BY THE SMALL SHOPKEEPERS WHERE SPACE IS THE PROBLEM. SUCH TYPE OF PRODUCTS WAS EXPECTING BY EVERY ONE LOOK LIKE A LAPTOP , PERFORM AS DESKTOP. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO MENTION HERE THAT THERE IS NO DOUBT ABOUT ZENITH SERVICE SUPPORT AND QUALITY CONTROL. "ALWAYS ON" WILL CREATE A SMILE ALWAYS ON TO ALL THE CUSTOMERS.
