Zenith Unveils New Dual-Core Infotainer

By ChannelTimes Staff
Mumbai, Jun 21, 2005

Zenith Computers today launched the new "Infotainer", the complete digital home entertainment PC, featuring Intel's dual-core Pentium D processor.
Zenith is the first player in the Indian market to release a complete home entertainment system with the new generation processor, the company said. Zenith is targeting this system at the "family media enthusiast" who is looking for functionalities like high-end gaming, PVR, video streaming to the home theater system, etc.

Devita Saraf, executive director, Zenith Computers, said, "Zenith has always been at the foremost in introducing the latest technology in the Indian market. With the launch of Zenith Infotainer with the Intel Pentium D processor, all members of a family will experience a product that combines all sources of entertainment and enables the 'digital home' at a much faster speed."

The Intel Pentium D processor has two processing cores (each with its own front side bus and L2 cache) that enhances not only the computing power of the PC, but also opening up a wide new range of possibilities and power for the home entertainment experience.

"The two processing cores in the Intel Pentium D processor allows for true simultaneous computing, so multiple users can access and enjoy the same PC," said Prakash Bagri, national manager, OEM business, Intel Corporation. "This provides the consumers in India an enriching entertainment experience for the emerging usage models in the home."

The Infotainer range of PCs will be available in the top Zenith metro retail outlets and comes with a comprehensive warranty and a option of two screens.
What is the potential for the enhanced Infotainer?

Well if you read my reply properly, i was pointing out the performance difference between the two and not talking about the availability of the two. There is a difference. Also this is a well known fact that AMD high end CPU owners are mostly hardware geeks and like to build their own systems unlike Intel based prebuilt systems. So i dont think you will see AMD based prebuilt PCs anytime soon in here. Also if you are keen on comparing the performance, come over to Pune next month and see for yourself, the performance of AMD Athlon 64 X2.

The Intel Core CPU are not that great. Its just 2 Prescott cores glued together to put it simply. You all are aware of the Prescott problems.Just imagine what will happen when a PC with 2 Prescott cores does job in your PC. Also the AMD Athlon 64 X2 beats the Intel Dual core by a huge margin,no comparison at all. Also these Intel CPUs need new board and DDR2 memory,so expect this system to cost pretty expensive. Even a AMD Athlon 64 939 pin based CPU would be cooler, faster, cheaper than this... Just my opinions.

Beware, the Intel Dual Core has its share of problems. Come on, 2 prescott cores working in tandem...what more can i say. Also the AMD Athlon 64 X2 beats out the Intel Dual Core.
