By

Mumbai, Sep 23, 2005
Umax Technologies is all set to enter the memory market with the launch of DD RAM and SO DIMM for PCs and notebooks by September-end through its national distributor Neoteric Infomatique.
According to Anish Kurup, business manager-Umax at Neoteric, the new launch is in accordance with the company's new memory focus. "Umax has been producing memory products for some time now through its sister company, Powerchip Semiconductors. The product being outsourced to many big companies. But now, Umax wants to enter the market with its own brand name, hence the focus is now more on producing memory products," he said. This move will also ensure better quality, he added.
On appointing new channel partners, Kurup said the company was planning on more additions in the form of more SIs, traders and OEMs.
The DD RAM and SO DIMM will be made available in two different capacities of 512 MB and 1GB, with speeds of 400 MHz and 533 MHz, respectively.
The company is yet to finalize the exact prices, but said the 512MB DDR will be priced tentatively at Rs 2,500 onward and the 1GB at Rs 6,500 upward. The price of SO DIMM is expected to be a little higher than the DD RAM.
The company will offer lifetime warranty on the products.
