Faizabad, Meerut Channels See an Ally in DI-Narc

The Discover India-New Age Resellers Conference (DI-Narc) meets held at Meerut and Faizabad on 30th December, 2003 and 3rd January, 2004 were an educating experience for the participating 91 and 45 resellers, respectively.
The conferences were anchored by Intel, LG, Seagate and TVS Electronics representatives.
Di-Narc was a big event for both the channels, as they do not have a resellers association to redress their problems as also be an effective link between them and the vendors.
"The conference gave us the chance to speak out our problems to the vendor representatives and strike a rapport with them. DI-Narc is playing the role of a true friend of the channel," said a reseller from Faizabad.
There is an increasing demand for computer products in Faizabad from the Soho segment. So the product display by Seagate, TVS-E and LG gave them the opportunity to understand better how the products work, their technical specifications, etc. Intel's presentation educated the channels on its latest and upcoming processors in the market.
Shantanu Rastogi, proprietor of Computer Craft, Faizabad, said, "Besides product information, we also discussed TVS-E's service and warranty problems related to loose products, which we are receiving constantly. The TVS-E representative promised to look into the matter and provided the channel with direct telephone nos. to get help round the clock."
As Faizabad is close to the Nepal border, gray market products are aplenty here and in great demand as they come cheaper. However, according to Shameen Imptiaz, partner of A to Z Computers, assemblers of branded products are also thriving. "The demand for computer products is growing, but we are not getting advertisement materials, brochures and exact prices of the products to fully exploit our branded products."
In Meerut, there is a good demand for LG and Seagate products, according to the resellers. But on the flip side, as Ajay Garg, proprietor of Perfect Computers, Meerut, puts it, "the kind of services we are getting from both the companies is far from encouraging'.
The resellers were told to avail of Seagate's Delhi service center for all their service needs. The conference explained to the resellers how to become a Seagate Premium Partner and also take advantage of Seagate Peace of Mind insurance scheme.
For both Faizabad and Meerut resellers, DI-Narc was a window to the latest developments in the computer technology world outside their channel, which brought to their doorstep what was till now only a distant reckoning.
