Mumbai, Aug 11, 2004
Advanced Micro Devices's (AMD) Bangalore engineering center has recently commenced operations. The center will develop AMD's next-generation processors.
Gopal Krishna, general manager, engineering center, AMD India, said, "AMD's business needs necessitate the establishment of an additional engineering team for our Computation Products Group. We believe that India is a key technology nexus in Southeast Asia, and an engineering presence in India strengthens our continued commitment to customer-centric innovation."
"We also believe that India has the talent and ecosystem necessary to ramp-up the required engineering teams," he added.
The center is located at 10, Richmond Road in Bangalore and is at present recruiting and training personnel to build a team. This process will continue through the rest of 2004, with a targeted headcount of 30-40 by the end of the year.
The center is looking to reach a headcount of 150-160 by the end of 2005, Krishna said.
The center is envisioned to be an independent processor product development team, and a center of excellence for advanced very large scale integration (VLSI)development. "We will develop next-generation microprocessor products at the center,' Krishna said.
