IEI too Assists in Relief & Rehab Operations

The Institute of Engineers (IEI), the apex body of engineers in the country, has extended full technical support to the Tsunami victims in the country for rehabilitation.
IEI, having more than 5 lakh engineers as members, has offered different kinds of engineering inputs for effective relief and rehabilitation. B. J. Vasoya, president, IEI, has issued the following appeal to all agencies to utilize services of its member-engineers for all technical support and rehabilitation.
The Institute of Engineers (India) has experienced manpower, among 5 lack members of the IEI, spread all over the country and is supported through infrastructure at 94 centers located in different geographical locations in the country.
To provide relief and to put back the economic and social life on rails, the Institute has opened helpline centers at its various southern regional centers. Following contact and helpline may be fully utilized by Tsunami wave-affected people directly, as well as by NGO and government agencies involved in the relief work to get best of the technical support, IEI said in a release.
IEI has issued various helpline contact numbers. Tamil Nadu in Chennai 044-25360695, monitored by T. Senthil Nayagam. Also in Andhra Pradesh at Visvesvaraya Bhavan, Khairatabad, Hyderabad Tel. No. 040-23314969 to be monitored by G. Prabhakar. Also such centers in Kerala at Thiruvanthapuram in the IEI premises. The Tel. No. 0471-2322991 will be monitored by T. R. Krishnan. The office is opened at Bhubaneswar, Tel. No. 0674-2400630 to be monitored by N. K. Das.
Similar offices have been opened in New Delhi in IEI premises at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Tel. No. 011-23379052, to be monitored by Pradeep Chaturvedi and R. K. Bagrodia.
The activities will be monitored by the headquarters office in Kolkata, Tel. No. 033-22238311-14-15, by A. K. Poothia.
