Mumbai, Feb 9, 2005
In an attempt to grab the SME, home and student segment market share, Acer today launched its sub-36K notebook, Aspire 1362.
At Rs 35,999, the company said it is a breakthrough price in the notebook category. Additionally, Acer has also introduced a rebate program for students under which they can avail a special rebate of Rs 2,500 on this notebook.
S. Rajendran, general manager-sales & marketing, consumer products group, Acer, said, "It has been Acer's philosophy to provide its customers with the best technology at an affordable price. In our pursuit to empower consumers, we have always revolutionized the price points in the notebook category, time and again.'
The Aspire 1362 NLC is an entry-level notebook and equipped with a 15-inch TFT screen. It is powered by an AMD 2800 Sempron processor and has a 256 MB DDR RAM and 40 GB HDD. The notebook offers connectivity with four USB ports, along with a 24 X CD RW +DVD-Combo optical drive. The Aspire 1362 NLC runs on a Linux operating system and comes with a one-year warranty.
Mukund Ramaratnam, director, business development, AMD, said, "AMD is redefining everyday computing for today's mobile lifestyle. The Aspire 1362 is an illustration of how AMD and Acer are working together to serve the growing laptop market in India for PC users at home, in the office, or on the move."
The new notebook will be available through Acer's distribution channel and retail outlets. Students will need to provide their identification card/registration number with their respective institution.
