Yatra 2005 Buoys Up Amravati Channel
By
360 Magazine Staff
Mumbai, May 27, 2005
Coming in the wake of the new value-added tax regime, the Discover India Yatra's Amravati meet, in Maharashtra, which kick-started its 2005 sojourn across the country, evoked a tremendous response with 97 resellers participating.
The 360 Magazine-organized event saw representatives of Samsung, TVS-E and Logitech unveil their future plans and also highlight their products. Most of the products that require touch and feel were displayed at the stalls.
Ajay Buchha, president, Amravati Computer Dealers Association (ACDA), said, "Such direct contact with vendors helps us a lot. It is important to have interaction with your business partners. It is great to have the companies on one platform and throw light on their plans. The Yatra is an excellent idea and we want it to continue in the years to come. It came as a booster to us after the slump in the market due to VAT uncertainties."
Prakash Purohit, owner, Compu Shop, said, "It is a privilege for us that the DI Yatra began at Amravati. The presentations by the vendors were really good and provided a lot of information about the products. We could see the entire range of high-end Logitech products, which we had heard about but never seen. It was also a good opportunity for us to address our problems to the vendors."
The resellers here had some tough time after the introduction of VAT, but are now expecting an upswing in the market in the coming months.
Paresh Parekh, owner, Jayshree Computers, said, "The event was really good and we came to know about the finer points of many products, which we never knew. We were looking forward to Intel to come and address the resellers here. We have been doing business for them, but never get to interact with them." He added that the channel has many issues related to service and warranty, which never get addressed, and are waiting for the vendors to clarify.
The vendor representatives too were pleased with the response the meet gave them. Amitabh, channel manager-Vidarbha, MP & Chhattisgarh, for Logitech, said, "This market is known to us and we have great expectations from this channel. Now, after spreading more awareness about issues like warranty, we expect the market to increase here."
The resellers in Amravati sell more than 300 PCs every month and cater mainly to the SMB and home segments.

Channel Partners of Amravati are the best , I have ever seen. They are known for there unity. Yearly held , Compex at Amravati is very famous too. Channel Partners from other cities should take this an example and work towards joint benifits of the Industry.
