Andhra Pradesh IT Society Elects Tirumalarao Chamalla As Prez

IT Society

The Andhra Pradesh IT and Electronics Society has elected Tirumalarao Chamalla, the former head of BFSI vertical at Happiest Minds, as its president.

The society, which has about Rs 200 crore in funding, is tasked with bringing IT jobs to places like Amaravati, Tirumala and Visakhapatnam. Chamalla will join the society next week for a three-year term, Economic Times reported.

Chamalla has set a target of bringing in 10,000 jobs to the state in seven months.

“The target that is set is high,” Chamalla told ET. “But if you don’t set a high target, you can’t begin to achieve anything. The idea is to bring in 5,000 jobs from the IT industry and 5,000 from other technology-led innovations”, he said.

“For example, asking companies that manufacture robots for agriculture to set up manufacturing in the state.” Chamalla, who had quit Happiest Minds last year to launch his own startup, said he decided to join the Andhra Pradesh initiative after his own venture did not take off.
