Pune, September 18: The Computer Media Dealers’ Association (CMDA) of Pune has chalked out major plans for making the annual IT Expo in the city a gala affair this time, garnering at least 25 percent more footfalls besides engaging with the Chief Information Officers (CIOs) of small and medium enterprises in a major way.
The four-day ‘IT Expo 2013′, in its 16th consecutive year, will be held at the Sakhar Sankul area of Shivaji Nagar in the city from December 12. A decision to this effect was taken at the General Body meeting of the association held earlier this month.
CMDA Pune Secretary Rahul Khurd said the association held the view that organizing an exclusive IT exhibition had helped the vendors promote latest available technology while providing a platform for the channel partners (members) to witness innovations in the industry.
“The IT Expo organized by CMDA has grown in stature over the past 15 years and besides being the only IT show in Pune, has also received tremendous response from across industry, both from large as well as small and medium enterprises. Additionally, we’ve attracted IT and ITeS companies as well as banks and financial sectors, education, small-office-home-office entities and individuals,” he said.
Last year’s edition had seen over 40,000 footfalls and this year the association is leaving no stone unturned to ensure at least 50,000 visitors, including over 5,000 from businesses. We also would be carrying out below-the-line activities like personalized invitation to over 4,000 corporate customers and over 2,000 IT re-sellers, Khurd said.
The upcoming event will be held across a 4,000 sq,meter area housing over 200 stalls with a 1,500 sq.meter showcase area dedicated to include segments like SME Enterprise, Electronics Surveillance, Mobile Computing, Digital and Imaging Solution Zones and IT Academy Wing. “This year we are expecting participation from major IT Vendors, Mobile and Tablet solution Providers, Digital Camera’s and well-known IT Training institutes,” he said.
As part of its efforts to reach a wider audience base, CMDA is also organizing an SMB-CIO conference where more than 600 CIOs from small and medium enterprises will be taking part in a series of events like technical and business seminars to discuss the latest technology innovations and their impact.
The CMDA expects major companies to showcase their products across various segments such as PCs, laptops, tablets, smartphones, servers, storage, think clients, networking and firewall products, components, printers, plotters, scanners, power solution companies, data centre solution companies, surveillance camera and solution companies, LCD projectors, digital cameras, professional displays and video wall solution companies, antivirus solution, office application software companies along with hardware institutes, and others offering courses for networking, virtualization and designing.
