Chennai: Tamil Nadu based Confed-ITA is planning to organize a meeting with vendors and distributors from the region to chalk out channel strategies in key segments of the IT industry, especially related to hardware segment.
The event titled Get-Together-To-Grow-Together (GT2GT) would witness vendors and distributors from the region and is likely to be scheduled at a private hotel in Coimbatore.
Confed-ITA Secretary Sujay Vijayan further revealed that invitations had been sent out to the member vendors and distributors for the meeting. “We expect a higher level of participation from vendors, especially in the laptop segment. However, we have also invited representatives of associations that cater to national-level distributors,” he said.
Asked about the key objectives of the meet, Vijayan said the association expects to generate some solutions and suggestions that could be mutually beneficial for the vendors as well as the dealer community. The agenda would have to be a healthy one and very interactive where both sides must debate and finalize on certain policy frameworks.
During the meeting some of the key aspects of the channel business including the service issues, dead-on-arrival and pricing parity are likely to feature in the discussions. The five key stakeholders
of the IT industry, EOM, national distributor, regional distributors, resellers and service providers will discuss the issues that are hindering the growth of the channel industry, he added.
The association had conducted a similar meeting in 2011 where the members discussed major issues that were hampering channel growth during that period in time. “We will be discussing the roadmap for the channel business for the next three years”, Sujay Vijayan concluded.
