Idea To Offer 4G Services To 9 North East Districts

Idea Cellular today announced that it has expanded its high-speed 4G services to cover nine districts of the North East Service Area. The services would now be available in Agartala, Aizawl, Imphal, Kohima, Mokokchung, Senapati and Tura, in addition to Dimapur, where it was launched earlier this year.

With the rapid expansion in a fairly short span of time, Idea’s 4G services are now available to over 1.7 million people in the North East, the company said in a press release.

Customers in Tura, Senapati and Mokokchung will have their first 4G experience on the Idea network as it is has become the first operator to provide the service in these towns.

In a statement, Anish Roy, Chief Operating Officer, East, Idea Cellular said, “As part of the aggressive roll out of Idea’s 4G service, our focus has been to build a robust telecom infrastructure and provide superior internet coverage. With better internet experience at affordable tariff plans and commitment towards customer delight, we aim to provide the best experience to our subscribers.”

Currently, over 8.9 million 4G devices across these 10 circles are registered on Idea’s network and growing at an exponential rate. Idea’s 4G Prepaid & Postpaid tariff plans are priced aggressively and is also offering ‘4G Trial Packs’starting as low as INR 46.

With increased adoption of 4G smartphones in recent months, Idea has also tied up with popular smartphone manufacturers including Intex Technologies, Lava, Lenovo, Xiaomi and One Plus to offer bundled 4G data plans on smartphones.
