Riverbed Technology today added HP Cloud Object Storage to the Whitewater family of cloud storage gateway solutions. Organizations that deploy Whitewater gateways can now choose HP Cloud Object Storage as a cloud storage option to meet their requirements for disaster recovery (DR).

With this, Riverbed extends ability to give Riorganizations unparalleled choice and flexibility when upgrading their data protection infrastructure to replace tape-based technology with fast, secure and cost-efficient cloud storage.

Purpose-built for data protection, Whitewater gateways duplicate, compress and encrypt data to reduce storage costs in the cloud. Whitewater gateways enable organizations to easily and securely obtain the benefits of the public cloud’s economies of scale, flexibility, scalability and pay-per-use pricing, without changes to their existing infrastructure. This frees data protection staff from labor-intensive tape backup and tape infrastructure management with no disruption to their operations.

“Deploying Whitewater gateways with HP Cloud Services enables organizations to eliminate the administrative burden and costs associated with tape technology. Now HP Cloud Services can become a low cost storage tier for backup data sets,” said Ray Villeneuve, general manager of the Whitewater Business Unit at Riverbed®. “The Whitewater gateway’s real-time replication greatly improves DR readiness, streamlines IT operations, and delivers the performance, security and reliability that customers desire. Customers that deploy Whitewater gateways with HP Cloud Services benefit from fast and easy installation, no changes to the existing infrastructure and world-class support and service.”

Organizations that deploy Whitewater gateways with HP Cloud Object Storage have a high-performance, consistent, secure and flexible cloud storage solution.
