Citrix Systems announced the appointment of Sanjay Deshmukh as Area VP - India Subcontinent. He will be based in the Mumbai office of Citrix.

In his new role, Deshmukh will be responsible for the company s entire operations including enterprise and field sales, services, technical pre-sales and post-sales functions.

Deshmukh joins Citrix from SAP, where he was vice president for the Business User and Platforms business. He joined SAP as part of their acquisition of Business Objects where he was country manager India/SAARC from 2001 to 2008.

Deshmukh started Business Objects in India and built a team that succeeded in establishing Business Objects as a dominant player in Business Intelligence application space. His other assignments include tenures with Informix, Tata Unisys and Binary Semantics.

Citrix, with its end-to-end virtualisation solutions, will be able to help Indian enterprises to lower costs, increase flexibility, foster self-service and create more agile IT environment, he said.

Deshmukh  takes over from Souma Das, who leaves Citrix after a tenure of eight years to pursue new opportunities.
