__p Mait, the apex body representing IT hardware, training, IT design/R&D and associated services in India has announced the appointment of Sanjay Handu as its new chairman for the southern region.

p____p Handu will hold the position of Mait chairmanship for a period of two years from 2004-06. As the chairman of the premier body representing the hardware industry in India, Handu will be responsible for promoting the usage of IT/hardware in southern India, strengthening its role in the economic development of the region, and promoting quality-consciousness in the Indian IT/hardware industry. He will also help in developing a globally-competitive hardware industry in the country.

p____p Handu is also the director-strategic sourcing, India and head-commercial & IS at Tyco Electronics Corporation India. He has about 21 years of experience in industries like automobile components, computer manufacturing, hydraulics and earth-moving equipment with organizations like Mico-Bosch, Digital Equipment, Larsen & Toubro etc.

p____p He is a mechanical engineer from UVCE, Bangalore with postgraduate diplomas in business management, financial management and international trade.
