The week was full of interesting happenings in the technology industry. Following worldwide reports of battery failures and fires with the Galaxy Note 7 in early September, smartphone major Samsung finally announced a complete official recall of all Galaxy Note 7s in the U.S., Europe and Asia.

Working in partnership with the CPSC, carriers and retailers, Samsung is maximizing its reach to Note7 owners through multiple touch points to ensure users are aware of the program. Channel partners say that an honest approach would go a long way in ensuring that the company mitigate brand damage. However, partners say that company must speed up their response to maintain its recall value among partners and customers.

In what could be a strategic move to surge the prominent cloud vendors, VMware and Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced a partnership to offer new hybrid cloud services.Industry experts say that the deal will bring new opportunities for manage service providers and other third-party IT solution providers to cross-sell and leverage the products of both companies. While AWS and VMware are joining hands to lead the cloud business, Microsoft is also very aggressive on its cloud plans. The company demonstrated the integrated CRM and ERP for its partners and customers. Microsoft also explained how partners can leverage the technology by increasing their ability by delivering a deeper level of vertical and business process expertise.

Social media major Facebook is now increasingly going commercial. The company, which recently launched its commercial service ‘Facebook at Work’ is now planning to expand its distribution channels to sell the product across the entire enterprise spectrum. Enterprise mobility is one of the fastest growing business segment, which is still largely unexplored in the channels. Enterprises are on the look out for best mobility solutions which will give them the maximum business agility. Therefore, it is a right time for partners to explore this emerging space.

While mobility is emerging as a growth area for networking and network solution providers, surveillance is another vertical, which is attracting the traditional IT resellers. Considering good margins and less competition in this space, partners are heavily focusing on the surveillance business.

StorageCraft launched a new partner program to provide the training and margin benefits to partners. And last but not the least, YMS Mobitech has announced to launch its e-distribution platform to bring more smartphone vendors on board.
