New Delhi, August 26: In a distribution partnership, Delhi-based Advatage Computers (Adcom) has decided to sell the Chinese smartphone brand Zopo. Adcom will act as an exclusive distributor for both online and offline channels to sell the Zopo mobiles. Already Adcom has been selling its entry level range of phones in the market, but to tap the high end phones market, the distributor partnered with Zopo for the 4G and high features phones to fill the gap.
“We will act as distributors for Zopo in India. Not only that we will market as well as service their phones in the country,” said Sanjeev Bhatia, the founder and chairman of Adcom. Adcom has 200 service centres in the country and 50 existing distributors which will extend support for Zopo customers,” Bhatia said.
Zopo on Wednesday launched a new smartphone — the Speed 7 — priced at Rs.16,999. The phone, which is 4G LTE compliant, comes with a 64-bit octa-core processor, 3GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory.
The phone also comes with Android Lollipop at the base with the Z user interface on top.
“We are looking to sell at least a million units by the end of the year,” said Kevin Xu, the CEO of Zopo Mobile. All our phones are 4G compliant and will give us an edge as a new entrant in the already crowded market,” Xu said.
Adcom currently produces 120,000 feature phone units at its plant in Delhi.
Speed 7 is available on Snapdeal in the first week of September 2015 and priced at Rs. 12,999
Chinese smartphone brands have been enjoying a 97% YOY share of the market (second quarter CY 2015) and we wish to tap this ripe consumer base with the best of our products. “We have been continuously working towards the expansion of our global footprint and ZOPO is actively pursuing its goal to enter and leave a mark in the extremely enticing Indian market,” said Charles Bird, brand Manager Zopo Mobiles.
Bhatia also added, “The weakening of Chinese economy has no impact on the Indian distributor. Today none of the Indian smartphone players are selling 4G with high end processors and RAM. Its Chinese brands are having the capabilities of R&D to build high end 4G ready phones. As India is gearing up for 4G, we see more and more Chinese brands will make way to India.”
Apart from Zopo, another Chinese brand Meizu Technology (MEIZU), one of the fastest-growing Chinese smartphones today officially announced its entry into India through its flagship phone MX5 MX5 launched at INR 19,999. After establishing a strong presence in the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Israel, Russia, Ukraine, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Thailand, India is its next key market.
With India emerging as the third-largest smartphone market in the world, MEIZU’s India entry re-energizes the sector and sets a benchmark for smartphone design and performance.
